Biontech laboratory announces its ability to produce a new vaccine for mutated Corona strains within 6 weeks
The CEO of the German Biontech laboratory, which developed the Corona vaccine in partnership with the American Pfizer, announced that they have the ability to produce a new vaccine within 6 weeks against the mutated Corona strain.
He added, at a press conference held in Mainz, western Germany, after the authorities agreed to distribute the vaccine and use it in the European Union: We can start directly designing a vaccine against the new mutation of the virus.
He also explained that the company (Biontech) has confidence that its Corona vaccine is effective against the new strain of Corona virus, which recently appeared in England, but there is a need to do more studies to ensure this. The confidence we have comes from that 99% of the proteins in the new strain are the same as those in the strain for which we created the vaccine.
Ugur Shaheen confirmed that they are carrying out studies to confirm this matter, but he is confident that their vaccine is effective against the new and mutated strain.
