Warning about the danger of the new Corona strain to children
Scientists in England have warned of a possible danger to children from the mutated Corona strain, which affects young and old, unlike the previous strain.
Scientists said it is rapidly spreading in southern England, and is likely to spread to the rest of the country.
"We have great confidence that this new strain has a rapid transmission characteristic compared to other strains of Corona," said the head of the new virus threat group (Peter Horby).
One of the group members (Neil Ferguson), a scientist in epidemiology and infectious diseases in London, Imperial College, added that this strain has a great tendency to infect children. "We have not proven any kind of reason for this, but we see it in the data, and we still need to collect more data to know how this mutated strain behaves," he said.
On the other hand, a professor in virology (Wendy Barclay), who is one of the advisory group's lights, said that the mutated strain of Corona changes the way it enters into human cells, which means that children are as susceptible to infection as adults, and it is expected that we will see the infection of more children.
